Sick babies....

I have had two sick little babies in my house for a few days now.

Poor Liv started with a fever on Friday night and has been in the dumps ever since.

Cough, runny nose, fussy, etc.

Poor Blake started coming down with the same crud on Sunday night.

His wasn't quite as bad, but overall - he is a sick pup too.

Still in good spirits though!





 

The whole fam has been hit...Ryan starting on Saturday and me on Monday.

Here's hoping that it is GONE tomorrow!!

 

Hit with the bug…

My sister was home from Colorado this past weekend. We were all SO excited for her to come visit…and it was great to have her home. BUT, we all got hit with the nasty flu bug.

I got the call on Thursday that Liv had gotten sick at school. Poor baby. This is the first time that she has ever thrown up. She wasn’t a spitter-upper as a baby either, so this was very new and scary for her!
Her daycare director said that it was going around…but it wasn’t the norovirus, it was quick. That kids would get it, but it was a 4-6 hour flu. Liv was pretty darn sick for about 3.5 hours, but then really came out of it. I figured that was it. Since my sis was just coming in…we packed up and headed to my mom’s to see her.

Fast forward to the next day…went to lunch, all fine. A couple of hours later, Blake is sick. Oh no. Poor baby. Blake’s lasted a bit longer than Liv’s.

My sis and I went out with friends on Friday night for a bit…all was well. Mary left there to go meet up with my parents and I went home to help Ry with the babies. By the time Mary had gotten home…she was sick. It hit that fast!

By midnight I was sick. My mom was sick.

By the next morning my dad was sick.

UGH…..I felt SO bad!

Luckily is missed Ryan, Lord knows how?!!? He must be strong!

Anywho..it was a rough 24 hours or so….but we are all better now. Knocking on wood that the flu bug is gone for good from our family now!!

I’m actually glad that it is Monday….

This weekend was not the best weekend that we have ever had…and that is an understatement. I was SO looking forward to it…but that is probably why we were jinxed! Friday night we just ordered pizza, watched a movie, and hung out. That was the best part of the weekend. Things went downhill from there. Saturday started out just fine. Ryan and I had plans to go out with friends. I was SO looking forward to a night out. We had the kids all packed up and ready to go. We were on the road to Ryan’s parents to drop the babies off for the night. They were excited to get the kids…and had been looking forward to it. Half way there I hear a little coughing/gagging going on in the back seat. I turned around JUST in time to see poor Blake get sick ALL OVER. I have no clue how the kid had that much in his tummy…SO, we turned around and headed home. He was sick ALL night and into the next afternoon. I feel like all I did was follow him around with a towel and do laundry for 24+ hours. NOT a pretty sight. He actually still isn’t 100%, so he stayed home with my mom today. That made him happy :). He got SO sick and it came out of nowhere…poor kiddo.

I kept sweet Olivia in a separate room the whole time and (knock on wood) she has been just fine so far.

Sunday afternoon it started snowing…..blizzard like conditions. On April 3rd. UGH….just what we didn’t want to see!

I opened the basement door in the afternoon to head down to the freezer to find….a flooded basement. Just to put the icing on top of our awesome weekend. What a pain! SO, Ryan and I spent the remainder of the day drying out and sorting out the basement. Apparently we need a new sump pump! Hopefully that is fixed before Friday.

This all makes leaving for vacation on Friday look THAT MUCH BETTER!!

Just one of those days...

Today has been a longggg day. My nights are usually semi-short right now with Olivia waking up to eat...and I can deal with that, but last night was VERY short. Olivia went down at 10:30 and slept until 3:30, so that was good. I was feeding her quickly with plans of crawling right
back in bed. Wrong!! I hear Blake back in his room saying "mama, mama, mama, mama" over and over and over...he usually sleeps through the night no problem. So, I snuck my head in there and he was wide awake. I rocked him back to sleep and crawled back in bed at 4:15...he never really went back to sleep. Ryan got up at 4:45 to get ready for work and Blake was still up, so he got him out of bed and brought him out to watch TV....well, the rest is history! SO, I have been up since 3:30!! We kept Blake home from school. I don't really think that he is sick....but I was worried about sending him off to school so tired.

He was in a good mood all morning, but has fought a nap all day! He is being clingy and jealous when I hold Olivia. He NEVER acts like that, so I think that he is just overly tired!

I really have no room to complain, since I am still of on maternity leave...and my mom came over and let me take a 2 hour nap! I know some mom's have these issues EVERY night, but I have been spoiled :)

I am crossing my fingers for a good night's sleep for ALL of us tonight!!

How could I be mad at this little cowboy?!

Up All Night!!

We had a pretty LONG weekend….with very little sleep! Blake was up all night on both Friday and Saturday nights. I am not sure what was happening. I do know that the poor kid was burning up…so he had a fever. We took him to the walk-in clinic on Saturday and he did have and ear infection, AND he is popping his molars through. Poor kid. He is on anti-biotics (again), so hopefully that will help. He did sleep through the night again last night…so hopefully we are turning a corner!!

We were at my parents house on Friday, so my poor mother was up all night with him…bless her heart!! Saturday we were home…

He is so stinking smart…giving him medicine is almost impossible. I have tried all of the tricks…but nothing works…and he holds the medicine in his mouth and then just spits it all out. I just pray that he is getting a little…and that it is enough to make a difference!!

Weekend Re-Cap

Well....3 days after taking care of my sick baby....this mama got what he had! We went to my parents house after work on Friday b/c my mom was just getting in from Boulder. I was feeling kind of weak, but I assumed that it was just from a long day at work.
I got home and went right to bed...at about 5am I woke up and I was sicker than a dog!! It was terrible. I seriously had to stay in bed ALL DAY long on Saturday. Poor Ryan and Blake had to fend for themselves. Actually, Ryan does a GREAT job with Blake and I am sure that he didn't even miss me!

Sunday I woke up feeling a little bit better....but still pretty weak. Blake and Ry surprised me with a couple of new charms for my Pandora bracelet...and the sweetest card ever! I am so spoiled. We went to my parents and Ryan's parents...where I pretty much just say on the couch!

I am so lucky to be the mom of the most perfect little boy in the world. I just love him SO much...and having your own child brings a whole new meaning to Mother's Day.

I am at work this morning...still feeling a little tired and icky...but nothing that I cant handle!! Hoping that I am back to normal tomorrow!!

I hope all of you other mothers had a great day yesterday!!

Back to normal!!

Blake's little stomach bug is gone...praise the Lord!! He is back to his cute/crazy little self today. Times when Blake is sick make be so thankful that he isn't REALLY sick. I don't know how parents of sick children handle it! I guess you would handle it when needed...but just one day of sickness for sweet Blaker had me all in a tizzy! I just worry so much about him!!

Last time that we were in for Blake's well-visit his ped had us start on Pediasure to help him gain weight. The poor kid was in the 5th percentile for weight. We didn't want him to be a runt!

Well, let me tell you....just a couple months on that stuff and it is REALLY working. He has gained weight...and is getting a gut! ha...the cutest gut in the world. How come babies can pull of a "cute gut" and us mama's could never have a "cute" gut!? not fair :)

We went to Blake's follow-up allergy visit on Friday...and he was already up to the 25th percentile!! Doc wants us to keep him on the pediasure for a bit longer....but it is doing the trick!!

Sick Babe...

I have been a bad blogger again....but this time I have a good excuse. A sick baby!! I woke up at 5 a.m. to Ryan yelling....ANNIE, Blake threw up all over his bed!!and he sure did. Poor kid. He didn't know what was happening...but he sure didn't like it! This is the first time that Blake has had the flu. ugh.We got him all cleaned up, laundry in, sheets changed Ryan off to work....6:00 I crawl back in bed...for about 2 seconds, because I heard him get sick again. After that we were up all morning. I just felt so bad for him, He would feel it coming and just look at me...not knowing what to do. He was sick off and on until 10:30. Ryan came home from work at 1 and I headed in to work. Blake napped from 11:30-2:30. Ry said that when he woke up he was feeling better. When I got home from work he seemed good. Lots of energy, smiling and laughing. He went to bed at 8...and I think that the little bug is gone. Thank goodness that it didn't lat too long. Poor sweet boy. That was a first for him and his mama....and I hope that we don't have to go through it again for a LONG time :)

I'm Back!!

OK....I am back. Finally. I seriously have not been that sick in forever. It was terrible. So sick to my stomach that I could not keep anything down. I was so weak because I hadn't eaten in 4 days...ughhh....it was a vicious cycle. I hope that that is behind us now and no one close to me catches it!!

I have to say that the timing on me getting sick could NOT have been any worse. We had the extra baby (from last Wednesday until yesterday)...and poor Ryan, my mom, and sister were stuck taking turns taking care of all 3 of us. Man, it was no good.

BUT, Ryan did snap a few pictures of the boys while I was laying in bed dying. I started to feel ill Saturday afternoon and it go bad Saturday night. ALL day Sunday I was out...so Ryan had both boys.

Blake was actually pretty good with Dylan around. He had a couple of jealousy issues...but really nothing major. More than anything he just wanted to play with him and couldn't figure out why Dylan wouldn't chase him around the house!!
On Monday Ryan had to work, so my mom came in and helped me. We actually took Blake to his daycare to keep him in his routine...so my mom had to take care of me and Dylan...

On Tuesday I was STILL not ready for work. My mom came in, since Tuesday's are her usual mornings with Blake anyway. She had both boys in the a.m. At 1 she took Blake to his other babysitter (regular routine) and then I was feeling batter so I could handle little Dylan on my own!

We got out a lot of the the toys that Blake has outgrown, and he was very glad to see them. He took to sitting in his bumbo again (which he hasn't done in about a year)...also his little vibrating chair. He is so slim that he still fits in everything...but it is funny to see.

We hooked the Johnny-Jump-Up back up for Dylan to try. He really enjoyed that. Blake thought that he wanted in again...so I let him test it out. He quickly realized that it wasn't as fun now that he could walk....it was actually more like a harness and held him in one spot...haha

SO....it is back to just the 3 of us now...and I am feeling better....all I can say is thank goodness for my hubby and my family! I couldn't NOT have done it without them!!

Sick, sick, sick!!

I have been sick since Saturday evening! I hardly ever get sick, but I caught something. Not sure if it was a bug or something that I ate…but I have been sick to my stomach for days. I think that I am finally turning the corner. I feel quite a bit better this afternoon. Hopefully I am back to work (and blogging) tomorrow! This being sick is for the birds!! :(

15 month well visit

Today Blake had his 15 month well visit. I took a few pictures while we were there, but have not uploaded them yet. I will do that this evening! 1st off….he was a spitfire the whole time. Thank GOD that my mother was there with me, b/c I could not have handled him on my own! He was squirmy and wiggly and the doc could barely do her check up. On top of that he bit me!! YES….bit me. For the first time…and it hurt!

His stats:
Weight 21.8 (10th percentile)
Height 31.5 (50th percentile)
Head circumference 18.5 (50th percentile)

Since he isnt gaining much weight the doc wants us to try one bottle of PediaSure a day. Hopefully that will give him the extra calories that he needs to put on some weight! What a little peanut. I told her that we do feed him….he just runs around constantly!!

He got three shots and screamed like a maniac…I suppose now that he is getting older more of that is a show and less is actually from pain.

She put him on Zyrtec (1.5 ml 1/day) for his allergies. I pray that that clears up his congestion, watery eyes, etc. Poor kid has been on 3 antibiotics and has been sick since January. I hope that this works!
We also have to treat his red cheeks with a Hydrocortisone cream and Aveno cream. She thinks that the redness may be from allergies too!!

Poor kid…if he is suffering from allergies this bad I sure do hope that he grows out of it all!! I hear that Ryan had pretty bad allergies as a kid, but now doesn’t suffer much at all from allergies (fingers crossed for Blake!).

Eye Gunk....

Yuck...Blake picked up the eye gunk. I am hoping that we caught if fast enought that it won't turn in to full blown pink eye...but the poor kid looks pretty pathetic. I am not sure when this happened. He woke up this morning just fine. He was in a great mood all a.m. I took him to Amy's and got to work. About 2 hours later Amy called and asked if I had noticed any gunk in his eye. Of course I hadn't or I wouldn't haven taken the poor boy to her house. Ryan was already on his way to get him....

Luckilly I was able to get him right into the doctor. Here are Blake and Ryan waiting to see the doc.

Doctor prescribed us some eye drops to clear it up and some more antibiotics to help with his congestion (that he just cannot kick) and his one ear still looks a little off. Poor kiddo.

We are praying that the drops clear up that yucky eye in no time. Doc said that we should see some dramatic differences in 24 hours or less.

This thing sure came on fast...I hope that it is done and gone just as quickly as it came. He looks just terrible in these pictures :(
